Meet our Veterinarians

Dr Lisa Roberts (BVSc (Hons), MACVSc)

Practice Owner // Veterinary Surgeon

Lisa and her husband Dave opened the Windaroo Veterinary Surgery in 2008, and have lived locally for many years.

Lisa is a graduate from Sydney University in 1990 and moved to Queensland in 1999 to work exclusively in Dermatology and gaining membership to the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in small animal medicine in 2001. She continues to enjoy helping dogs and cats with chronic skin disease and all aspects of general medicine.

Dr Laura Coughran (BVSc)

Veterinary Surgeon

Laura completed her degree in Veterinary Science in 2011 from James Cook University. In addition to her love of working with cats and dogs, Laura has a keen interest in reptiles, exotic animals and wildlife care.

Other areas of interest include dentistry, diagnostic ultrasound and animal welfare.

Laura keeps many of her own reptiles and has a great knowledge of their management.

Dr Jesse S-Wardle (BVSc (Hons))

Veterinary Surgeon

Jesse graduated from the University of Queensland and has spent time working at an Animal Hospital in the Northern Territory.

She has an interest in small animal surgery and medicine.

 

Dr Lisa Richards (BVSc (Hons), MVS, MACVSc)

Veterinary Surgeon

Lisa has been a practicing Veterinarian for almost 30 years, the majority of that time in small animal practice. She had also worked overseas throughout the UK.

She has a Masters in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery from Melbourne University, and is a Member of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in Canine Medicine. She has a special interest in surgical and theatre practices.

 

 

 

 

Meet our Nursing Team

Jenni Burnett

 

Senior Veterinary Nurse

 

Jenni is a very experienced nurse having worked more than 10 years in the industry. 

She is currently running our puppy pre school on Tuesday nights. 

Jill Van Der Zwan

 

Senior Veterinary Nurse

 

Jill has been a veterinary nurse for 9 years. She was an original staff member when we opened in 2008, and has just recently re-joined our WVS team.

Emily Bateman

 

Veterinary Nurse // Registered Nurse

 

Emily has trained as a Registered Nurse, and after completing her degree decided to turn her nursing interest to the animal world.

 

She is currently studying her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.

Danni Street

 

Veterinary Nurse

 

Danni is currently studying her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. She is running our puppy preschool

Hayley Van Dijk

 

Receptionist

 

Hayley has 10 years of experience within the animal industry with various certifications, including volunteering at a number of welfare organizations in Australia and England as well as previously owning and running a successful cat rescue. 

She loves all animals great and small and brings a wealth of knowledge to the industry inclusive of Human Resources and extensive customer service experience. Hayley has 4 cats of her own and continues to be a welfare advocate. She enjoys traveling, spending time with her family, and most importantly, her fur kids. 

Bronwyn Robertson

 

Veterinary Nurse

 

Bronwyn has been in the veterinary industry for more than 10 years. She has worked in Brisbane and the UK.

Lena Oakes

 

Trainee Veterinary Nurse

 

Lena was born in New Zealand where started riding horses at the age of six, and hasn’t stopped since. She owned her first horse at the age of eleven, spent a lot of time volunteering at the local Riding for the Disabled, and since moving to Australia in 2012 she worked in horse studs preparing yearlings for the Magic Millions. Lena has always had a great passion for animals of all shapes and sizes- she enjoys meeting and learning about them daily, and she has a keen interest in the health, welfare and enrichment of animals lives.

Lena has nearly completed her certificate II in animal studies, and would like to complete her certificate IV as she believes this to be a rewarding career choice. Lena has a dog of her own and enjoys fostering animals. She also enjoys travelling, horse riding, spending time with loved ones and sharing life with all creatures, great and small.
