  WELCOME TO WINDAROO VET SURGERY

WVS is a dynamic, family owned business that commenced operating in 2008.

Our goal for the surgery is to provide a personal service to our clients and their pets.

This may include a thorough examination for that routine health check and vaccination, or the discussion of all options when managing an ongoing or complicated problem.  Often it is simply the support and understanding of the staff when difficult decisions have to be made.  Our nursing staff have been chosen for their compassion and skills.

Windaroo is located between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, not far from Beenleigh. We are in Windaroo Shopping Village (across from the High School), 2 Carl Heck Blvd, Windaroo.

See you soon,

Lisa Roberts BVSc, MACVSc

Brave Pet of the Month

The team at WVS would like to re-introduce a 'brave pet of the month' award. This is someone who has shown courage during a consult or surgery and that is nominated by the staff.

Jackie is only 6 years old, but when she came into the vet surgery she was critically ill. All of her organs were shutting down, and she was turning a yellow colour; jaundice.

She had never been desexed and her uterus had become infected with 2 litres of pus! Jackie was in hospital for 5 days. We stabilized her with fluids, plasma and antibiotics, then we performed an ovariohystectomy. Jackie was the sickest pyometra case I have ever seen!

Pyometra is common in female dogs that are not desexed. This is why we recommend desexing all female dogs once they have finished breeding. 25% of entire female dogs will develop a pyometra and yet it is so easily prevented!

Here is Jackie catching some rays before she gets to go home!

Watch this space for whom picks up June's brave pet of the month award.
