Dreaded mosquitos transferring Heartworm to your pet

Dreaded mosquitos transferring Heartworm to your pet

Mozzie, Mozzie, Mozzie. Ew! Ew! Ew!

When you are bitten by a mosquito, your skin will form a red bump that becomes extremely itchy. But did you know that a mosquito bite can make you really sick, and in severe cases can cause death? Mosquitoes can carry diseases that may be passed on to people through their bites, known as ‘vector-borne’ diseases. In Australia, some of these include Dengue virus, Ross River virus, Murray Valley encephalitis virus and Barmah Forest virus. The nasty mosquito can also make your pet really sick too. Some mosquitoes can carry a parasite called the Dirofilaria immitis Heartworm.

Finishing touches + Landscaping begins

Finishing touches + Landscaping begins

Progress Update: Week Twenty Four

It is very exciting now, we are getting down to the final decorative touches. There is a bit of work to go with the landscaping throughout the outdoor dog area and the entrance. Dr Laura and nurse Emily have been busy on the mosaic at the entrance, which is looking awesome! The car park is all finished, with line markings completed. Most of the cabinetry is in, but we are still waiting on the reception desk, which will be a work of art! The heating pads have been installed in the concrete floors of the large dog kennels, with the rest of the kennels being installed shortly. Our bathroom is almost finished, and the plumbing should be completed by next week.

Progress Update: Twenty Three

Progress has continued at record speed in particular this week with the downstairs hospital really taking shape. The much debated vinyl flooring has been layed and coved up the white custom cabinetry. This really makes a huge difference by making the space feel much more finished!

Concrete pathways continue to be poured, block stairs are being errected in the carpark and finsihes such as fire extinguishers, tiel splash backs, signage and alarms/security are going in quickly.

Animal Hospital interior gets a makeover

Animal Hospital interior gets a makeover

Progress Update: Twenty Two

High fives to all the trades involved this past week who've managed to turn a dusty concrete-rabbit-warren into what is begining to look like a very flash animal hospital. Excitingly Matt Huth and his cabinetry team are progressing at full steam with the kickers, cabinets and overhead cupboards; and tiler Adrian Cooke and his boys are doing an excellent tiling job of the disabled amenities room with aqua accents.

Can you spot the massive rolls in the reception area? They are filled with vinyl flooring due to be laid on Monday *squeal* with our very own WVS logo embeded at the doorway.
