Kicking off the New Year

Kicking off the New Year

Progress Update: Thirteen

Happy New Year from Windaroo Veterinary Surgery and the hobbs building team. We've all had a refreshing Christmas break spent with family and friends and are now back into the thick of our building project.

With many trades working right up until Christmas Eve (thanks to Luke and Nikki for a last minute site clean up) we're havng a few minor delays with suppliers and trades not yet being back online until next week. Neverless, the team was prepared for these possible delays and have kept the carpentry side of works moving nicely with two new additions to the hobbs team (welcome Braiden and Josh).

Santa brings a sleigh of roof tiles

Progress Update: Twelve

Another week has passed and progress has been ticking over nicely. Our fascia, guttering and Build Safe safety barriers were installed on Saturday and not soon after work quickly began on laying the black roof tiles. The schedule should see the lower roof also fully complete by Christmas next week.

We've also seen the very last of core filling the retaining walls (phew) with water proofing and backfilling with soil currently in opertion today and tomorrow. Concreters have also promised the remaining slab around the pool to be complete before Santa drops down our chimney next Thursday night.

Progress Update Eleven

We've progressed (quickly) to week 12 of the build - around abouts the half way mark. And this week we've seen progress in the courtyard with a detailed concrete pour including a set of stairs which will eventually gain access to the second storey. Plus a suspended concrete slab which resides directly above the kennel room for added sound protection.

Luke and his team (of brother Mark and nephew Braiden) have been sweating it out installing the lower and upper steel frame roof beams and trusses, carport and awnings - which Lisa has referred to as a Meccano Set. (Thats's them in the pool during smoko).

Progress Update 10

It's been another great week onsite with the competion of the lower steel frame roof. Yesterday the team even managed to install the ceiling over the kennel room - which will eventually be conceted for added sound protection.

There's also been more core fillling of internal block walls, and settng out of the reo in the outdoor courtyard, in preperation for more concrete being poured tomorrow. (It's very surprising the sheer volume the build is requiring. And we haven't even got to the ashphalt carpark yet, ha).

Progress Update Nine

It's week 10 here on "The Block" and it's been all systems GO for our builder and tradies. The steel frame has continued to progress at a Usain Bolt pace and today we're currenty peering into the soon-to-be residential home above the vet hospital.

The site has experienced more earthworks and excavation out back to create Lisa's green thumb garden and drainage area. It's also seen several more smaller block retaining walls errected to the outdoor area. Plus the pool professionals have been in to clean, scrub, fix and polish the existing pool.
