Why it is important to have your pet checked annually.

Unfortunately our canine and feline companions can’t tell us when they feel unwell, and they generally try to mask the signs of illness. Because of this, it can sometimes be difficult to identify when there is a problem. In addition to this, dogs and cats age much quicker than humans; for example, a 20kg dog that is 10 years old in human years, is actually the equivalent of a 60 year old human. Because of this, we recommend yearly health checks- this may be with their vaccination, or at a separate time. This gives our veterinarians the opportunity to try and identify issues early, before they become a significant problem. Depending on your pets’ physical examination, the veterinarian may recommend performing further tests, such as blood tests.
