  Services
  • Vaccinations:  WVS offers vaccination a program for puppies that enables them to be protected earlier than the traditional 16 weeks. We offer C5 and C3 vaccinations to protect against Parvovirus, Distemper, Canine Hepatitis and Kennel Cough. F3 vaccinations in cats will enable them to go to a cattery. We also offer vaccination to protect against Feline Aids.
  • Radiology :  Quality xrays are taken on the premises and developed with automated processing. Generally your pet will be admitted to the hospital and either sedated or anaesthetised to enable safe and effective xray procedures.
  • Desexing:  We generally recommend desexing of pets around 6 months of age, before the onset of puberty, and after eruption of the adult teeth.
  • General anaesthesia:  We pride ourselves on safe and modern drugs and techniques. Our anaesthetic equipment is made by AAS especially for the Veterinary profession and enables us to safely anaesthetise the largest dog down to a bird, rat or mouse!
  • Dental checks, preventative and treatment:  Our state of the art dental equipment will help make your pets dental treatment gentler and quicker. This will reduce time under general anaesthesia and makes it safer. Our equipment is iM3 and enables us to effectively and gently extract the largest teeth and perform the gentlest scaling and polishing. We are often asked to quote on a dental procedure. This is not possible without examination of the pet as our skills and equipment enable us to do so much more than just clean! The simplest procedure would be a scale and polish under general anaesthesia. Often teeth need to be extracted and this would also require pain relief and possibly antibiotics. Refer to the story on Lucey for more detail on our dental procedures.
  • Hospitalisation:  Our sound insulated kennel room is air conditioned and there is individual heating within cages to improve patient comfort and recovery times.
  • Dermatology and Otology (ears):  We are capable of performing an extensive workup and provide a management/diagnostic plan for skin complaints. Problems with skin and ears often occur together in the same pet. In house cytology and skin scrapings are performed routinely. Preventative strategies can be implemented for management of chronic cases. Referral for “Allergy testing” is encouraged if appropriate.
  • Grooming:  Kristy is our groomer and has developed a clientelle of her own already! She is an experienced Vet nurse who works here one day a fornight. Please phone the surgery to arrange a clip or groom of your dog and to see which day she is available. Cats will be anaesthetised and groomed/clipped by our nurses.
  • Pickup and delivery of pets:  We have begun our service of pickup and delivery of pets to the surgery. We are offering this to many of the retirment communities in the district on a Wednesday. Please phone the surgery for more detail.
